Decorating for the Sentimental Heart

Understanding our clients "feelings" and honouring their significance in creating loving nourishing spaces is the secret of great interior design & decorating and this was certainly the magic ingredient in bringing together this new version of what had previously been the site of the old family cottage on the same plot of land. The challenge was finding a way to integrate colours and furniture from the past with very different interior decorating choices that had already been made in the present. The first key was the colour link. Aubergine walls and accent cushions diverted attention from the existing but different shades of green (walls & retro cabinet) - and literally brought the beautiful stone fireplace to life. The addition of easy casually elegant linen draperies hung on metal drapery rods, and a complimentary wool area rug simply frame the windows and define the cozy sitting area where a traditional coffee table from the past outfitted with a new removable upholstered top, comfortably doubles as a useful ottoman for sitting back with feet up relaxing. The result is happy clients that are pleased "everything old is new again"..
